How do i clean old costume jewelry without ruining it?
By
So i received i big bag of really cool Costume Jewelry. and it may have molded? black stuff came off on my fingers after working with it for a while, and it has this metallic acidic smell. so does anyone know a way to clean them without talking the fake gold off or ruining it?
The black stuff may come out with a gentle mixture of soap and moist toilette but the general role in preserving fake jewelery is simply clear nail polish. The nail polish helps the paint adhere to the plastic or copper a little longer than it would on its own and help eliminates that nasty green mark some rings leave. Also if your jewelery has some diamonds or sequence it helps as some extra glue in keeping them together- Hope this helps you

there is a special cleanser you can use. it is for normal jewlery so it will be gentle so as to not take anything off its not supposed to but it will most likely get the gunk off. you can find this anywhere from Shane Co. to JC Penny’s Jewelry Counter. Good luck!
