Valentine’s Day or Saint Valentine’s Day is a national holiday celebrated on February 14 in the United States, Canada, Mexico, United Kingdom, France and Australia. Now is the time for men, women, teens, and children; to express your love, emotions, and feelings to those who are most important to us. The holiday is named after Early Christian Martyrs named Valentine. On this day people exchange secret love notes in the form of "valentines." Many people like to hang out with their friends, family, and especially there girlfriend/boyfriend. “I like to hang out with Susan [Reynolds] and go to the movies” said Kathleen McDonald. A few common Valentine symbols include a heart, doves, and Cupids Wings. Valentine’s Day is the fourth most popular holiday with the most candy sales. The other three include Halloween, Easter, and Christmas. “I like the big gigantic candies.” Said Susan Reynolds. Some of the most popular gifts for Valentine’s Day include flowers, candy, jewelry, and perfume or cologne. “My mom gave me a game one time, called Guild Wars.” stated Tyler Linkenhoker.

Why it is called Valentine’s day
The day gets its name from a famous saint, but there are several stories of who he was.
The most popular belief about St Valentine is that he was a priest from Rome in the third century Ad.
Emperor Claudius 11 had banned marriage because he thought married men were bad soldiers. Valentine thought this was unfair, so he broke the rules and arranged marriages in secret.
When Claudius found out, Valentine was sentenced to death and thrown in jail. There, he fell in love with the jailor’s blind daughter.
His love and belief in God cured her blindness, and when he was taken to be killed on 14th February, he sent her a love letter signed
